Neu! was a German experimental rock duo formed by Michael Rother (guitar) and Klaus Dinger (drums), who is often considered one of the most important and influential groups of the krautrock scene. Neu! was noted for his use of rhythm “motorik” characteristic of krautrock and minimalist melodies. The group formed in 1971 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, when Rother and Dinger left Kraftwerk. The self-titled debut album Neu! was released in 1972 and was the first of three releases of the group after which the duo disbanded in 1975. It shows the classic logo of the band with the legend “Dusseldorf '72” stamped on the bottom in small size.
